12 Reinhardt Student-Athletes Earn SSAC All-Academic Honors in Fall Sports

WALESKA, Ga. -- Twelve Reinhardt College student-athletes who compete in fall sports were recently selected to their respective Southern States Athletic Conference All-Academic Teams. To qualify for all-academic honors, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in academic standing and have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 or better.

Reinhardt's volleyball team, under head coach Angela Monds, placed four players on the SSAC All-Academic Team, including seniors Meagan Pedersen (Bryson City, N.C.) and Kathy Thornton (Woodstock, Ga.), and sophomores Courtney Byrd (Riverdale, Ga.) and Michelle Tesina (Woodstock, Ga.).

The men's soccer squad, with head coach Dan Farnham at the helm, had three members earn all-academic recognition in senior Jonathan Garcia (Campinas, Brazil), junior Stephen Semasky (Hiram, Ga.) and sophomore Philip Overby (Oslo, Norway/Woodstock (Ga.) HS).

Head coach Andy Kaplan's women's soccer team also had three players make the all-academic list, including seniors Bekah Gay (Canton, Ga.) and Hailey Pope (Thomaston, Ga.), and sophomore Heather Hundelt (Woodstock, Ga.).

The men's and women's cross country squads, under head coach Kevin Kelly, each had one member receive all-academic accolades. Those runners are senior Dave Lawson (Sharpsburg, Ga.) from the men's team and sophomore Erika Miller (Snellville, Ga.) of the Lady Eagles.
