Reinhardt College Launches Master of Music Program
Music educators across northern Georgia now have a new option for graduate study: Reinhardt College, about an hour northwest of Atlanta, in Waleska, Ga. Classes will start in August 2009, and interested students are encouraged to apply early.
The Eulene Holmes Murray Department of Music at Reinhardt received approval from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to begin a master of music program in June of 2009. This exciting new program will meet the demand for music instruction at the graduate level in north Georgia and is Reinhardt's second graduate program.
Approved by NASM
"This new program has also been approved by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) and will attract music professionals from across the region," said Dr. Dennis K. McIntire, Reinhardt's interim dean of the School of Communication Arts and Music. "Based on requests from music professionals in the area, we anticipated the need for a master's program several years ago. We spent the time necessary to design an attractive program that offers an exceptional faculty, a dynamic curriculum and a convenient course schedule. I know it will be well received by the music community."

Reinhardt President Dr. J. Thomas Isherwood is also enthusiastic about the program. "Our music department has a wonderful reputation because of our professors, our courses, our facilities and our dedication to excellence, and I am glad we will be able to expand our offerings in music to the graduate level. Just like with our master of business administration, our first graduate degree, this program will meet community needs and offer the distinctive level of personalized education that is Reinhardt's trademark."
Convenient Schedule for Music Educators
The 30-hour graduate program offers three concentrations: conducting, music education and piano pedagogy, and targets students who have completed a bachelor's degree in music.
The first students will start the program in August of 2009, and they have a planned two-year completion date.
