The second installment of the Reinhardt University Community Gathering Series ramps up with the first event of the semester this month.
Tina Savas, co-author of “Women of True Grit,” is an entrepreneur from Birmingham, Ala. with a strong history of successfully educating people about women’s issues, “breaking the mold” for what is considered “acceptable” for female entrepreneurs, among other things.
“Women of True Grit” profiles highly successful women across a variety of fields and has been a guest on or featured in television and radio shows, newspaper, magazines and online articles.
“My passion is advancing women in their careers. Empowering women to take on leadership roles is a smart move for all of us, especially in today’s business environment,” Savas said.
Her professional experience includes founding the Birmingham Business Journal newspaper, Alabama Health News, Alabama Construction News and Birmingham Weekly. She also led the Top 40 Under 40 Series, naming up and coming stars younger than 40 (a model now copied nationwide). In addition, she formed The Birmingham 100, which lists top private companies and their revenues.
Savas will speaking Jan. 25 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the Bannister Glasshouse, Hasty Student Center.
This event is sponsored by the Reinhardt Women’s Leadership Program, of which Savas’ niece, freshman Taylor Savas, is a member.
