Reinhardt University’s values – Faith. Learning. Leading. – compel our University to speak with one voice in opposition to violence and in support of human life.
The tragic events in recent days remind us that evil exists in the world even as we are reminded that the power to overcome evil is in our hands, our voices, our actions, and our determination to do unto others as we would have them do unto us.
We echo the words of Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings who said, “[W]e as a country must come together, lock arms and heal the wounds that we all feel from time to time. Words matter. Leadership matters at this time.”
We call on our University community to follow the wisdom of the prophet Micah who implores us to Act justly. Love mercy. Walk humbly with God. And we pledge our support through prayer and action in hopes that we will indeed overcome hatred and violence with love and compassionate care for all humans.
We ask our entire Reinhardt University family – students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of the University – to say a prayer for the victim’s families each day, even as we seek ways to support those who serve and protect, and those who need protection from violent forces beyond their control.
