Reinhardt University’s commitment to its students stands strong in fundraising efforts to help relieve some of the financial impact on families. Through fundraising campaigns and events, including two golf tournaments held in May, the University is able to dedicate approximately $8 million per year to institutional aid.
Nearly 100 people played in each of the two fundraising golf tournament last month. The 28th Annual Dave Henritze Golf Classic, held May 2 at Hawk’s Ridge Country Club in Ball Ground, raised more than $140,000 for student scholarships and the work-study program, while the 23rd Annual United Methodist Golf Outing, held May 18 at Bent Tree Golf Club in Jasper, raised $23,000 for UMC students and dependents of UMC Clergy.
“These tournaments raise critical scholarships for students that attend Reinhardt University. It is a pleasure to work with these students and hear their stories of what Reinhardt means to them. And we are extremely grateful for sponsors and players who came out to support students in this way,” said Dale Morrissey, director of development and external relations.
Henritze Classic champions were Fred Weir, local owner/operator of four Zaxby’s locations and RU Board of Trustees member, Tom Price, Bill Jones and Ryan Carter.
The tournament is named for Dave Henritze, a longtime supporter and trustee of Reinhardt who was passionate about supporting students attending Reinhardt. That passion now is continued by his family including son, Fred, and his sons, Hunter and Porter.
The 29th Annual Dave Henritze Golf Classic is scheduled for May 2, 2017.
Eighty-four golfers hit the links May 18 to raise money for the Reinhardt United Methodist scholarship fund. The $23,000 raised was $4,000 more than this year’s fundraising goal.
The 23rd annual Reinhardt UMC golf outing is making possible up to $2,000 per student for UMC students, and up to $12,000 for dependents of UMC clergy from the North and South Georgia UMC Conferences. The UMC Golf Outing champions were Steve Lawrence, Bob Hofels, Henry Sossaman and Paul Phillips.
