In collaboration with the Cherokee County School District (CCSD), Reinhardt University provided a training session for principals and cooperating teachers who are hosting yearlong student teachers on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the Educational Services Annex-H04. Training focused on edTPA, a new required assessment designed to assess readiness for teaching, as well as strategies for implementing coteaching models.
The Price School of Education faculty, Dr. Shawn Brown, Dr. Pam Colvin, and Dr. Nancy Marsh with the leadership of Dr. Cynthia Kiernan provided the seminar to 75 teachers and administrators. The purpose of the training session was to provide guidance to CCSD with their support of RU clinical residents and provide training for CCSD teachers on the ways in which Reinhardt University students incorporate strategies for differenting instruction in K-12 classrooms. The teacher preparation programs 
in the Price School of Education focus on the creation of a positive classroom environment, use of assessment to plan for instruction using a variety of strategies, creation of tasks and activities that provide academic rigor, and the display of a high level of professionalism. CCSD schools provide incredible opportunities for our future teachers to see, first-hand, what effective teaching looks like in rapidly evolving educational landscapes as they visit classrooms throughout the district.
