Tags on the Giving Tree, located in Support Services, are available for Reinhardt community members to take, purchase gifts for the child they choose and return the gifts to the President’s Office by Dec. 10.
The spirit of the Christmas season is alive at Reinhardt University, as the annual Giving Tree program commences.
Reinhardt joins forces with its partner in education, R.M. Moore Elementary School, to provide Christmas gifts to families in the community who would otherwise not be able to provide their children gifts.
Students, faculty and staff can get involved by taking an angel tag from the tree located in Support Services in the Burgess Administration Building. The tags indicate the items on a specific child’s wish list.
“I love carrying on the Giving Tree tradition because it allows the community to come together for local children and their families,” said Janna Moore, Reinhardt’s coordinator of development services & stewardship. “It’s a joy to see Reinhardt’s students, faculty and staff give back and make Christmas special for everyone, especially those in need.”
Last year, the University assisted five classrooms and four students, providing classrooms with physical education equipment and gifts for children ranging from five to 15 years old. The local school identifies families in need, and the wish lists are provided to Reinhardt’s Office of Advancement and Marketing.
The tags include information about the child, along with a request for new clothing or toys. On average, about 50 Reinhardt faculty, staff and students participate, so be sure to stop by, find a tag and indicate which tag you chose on the sign out sheet located next to the tree.
Return the wrapped gifts to the tree in the President’s Office by Monday, Dec. 10. Make sure the tag is on the front of the gift. Multiple gifts should be wrapped separately.
