Public Safety Institute Mission
The Public Safety Institute provides an organization offering academic programs focused on developing organizational communication and leadership and an appreciation for organizational culture in the public safety arena. The Public Safety Institute is designed to meet the educational needs of law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical technicians and military personnel who provide the activities of first responders and homeland security.
Public Safety Institute Objectives
The Public Safety Institute provides flexible, online and face-to-face instruction in a variety of academic programs including associate degrees in Criminal Justice and an accelerated bachelor degree program in Public Safety Management and Leadership (PSL), as well as a future master’s degree in Homeland Security. The University also offers a certificate program in Basic Law Enforcement Training through the first private/public Police Academy in the state.
Program instructors have solid academic credentials and are seasoned professionals with the field experience necessary to deliver material that is relevant to the students.
As a member of the national Homeland Security Defense Educational Consortium Association (HSDECA) and the Service-members Opportunity Colleges (SOC), the Public Safety Institute will work closely with the state and federal HomeLand Security departments to develop and enhance the State of Georgia’s on-going educational and technical needs.
