Reinhardt’s Men’s Basketball team honored the university’s president, Dr. Mark A. Roberts, with special recognition and appreciation for his leadership, service, support, and for being a vital member of the team.
The framed jersey with the number 21 on it has a dual meaning. Dr. Roberts is the 21st president at Reinhardt, and it is the number worn by player Jawdat (“Jaws”) Rezeq for the past four years. Rezeq says he is honored to have presented the jersey on behalf of the team, “We appreciate everything Dr. Roberts does for us. His mentorship and leadership are one of a kind. He has played a significant role in shaping me to be the person I am today. From my first-year student professor to the president, he is still the same Dr. Roberts who pours lessons into my life and students’ lives here on campus. Together we fly!”
Dr. Roberts is grateful for this gesture of gratitude, “I’ve seen Jaws grow into a real professional, and I am so very honored by the RU basketball team’s gift. This is a true practice of one of our strategic goals: To create a ‘culture of recognition’ on campus among and between a variety of groups.”
