U.S. Representative Barry Loudermilk nominated the Funk Heritage Center for one of the nation’s highest honors by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) — a National Medal for Museum Service. This prestigious award honors outstanding American museums for making extraordinary contributions to their communities.
For thirty years, the annual award has celebrated institutions that demonstrate excellence in public service and provide dynamic programming and community outreach that exceeds expected levels of service. Winners will be announced in the Spring. The Funk Heritage Center, located on Reinhardt University’s campus, is honored to receive this nomination.
“I am thrilled that Rep. Loudermilk has chosen to recognize the Funk Heritage Center and Reinhardt University in this way,” said Funk Heritage Center Director Jeff Bishop. “We are extremely honored to serve this community and privileged to be able to share these important stories about our history. We thank Rep. Loudermilk and his staff for thinking of the Funk Heritage Center as a candidate for this prestigious recognition.”
