Reinhardt alumnus Francisco Lozano (RU-2003) received an honor recognizing him for his outstanding service to others. The Rotary Club of Canton presented Lozano with the Bob Robinson Georgia Rotary Student Program (GRSP) Leadership Award on September 3rd.
Through the GRSP, Lozano traveled from Mexico to Reinhardt over 20 years ago to further his education. He went on to later pursue a master’s degree, attain citizenship, work professionally, excel as president of the Rotary Club of Canton, and currently as a GRSP trustee. The award is named after a Rotarian who previously served as a leader and host father in the GRSP and as president of the Canton Rotary Club, noted for living a life of service above self. The honor recognizes Lozano’s work attaining the “Club of the Year” title, his support for other GRSP students, and his promotion of peace through servant leadership.
“This honor is particularly meaningful to me as it was established in loving memory of Bob Robinson who was one of my Host Parents within the Georgia Rotary Student Program,” Lozano explains. “Beyond this program, he became my American Father. His amazing leadership with a heart for service provided me with guidance and inspiration to serve others. Being an alumnus of the GRSP, I am thankful for the opportunity to give back and serve young leaders and their families. I love encouraging them to grow as servant leaders, share about their cultures, and experience the magic of Reinhardt University and American culture.”
GRSP, launched in 1946, currently hosts about 40 international students annually to study at colleges throughout Georgia. Lozano happily dedicates time and effort to supporting the program, planning events, and helping the students. His exemplary service to others extends throughout the area, also serving on the board of the Children’s Haven of Cherokee County, teaching art to special needs children, and other community project involvement.
