The Reinhardt Business Club offers resources assisting students in achieving professional success. The organization helps students with practical advice and tips for their resumes, interviews, and future careers.
This past Monday, the Business Club’s president Andrew Palozzi (RU-2025) discussed the importance of being well-versed in Power BI, a data visualization software, stating that knowledge of such programs can impress potential employers. Furthermore, the meeting discussed important issues surrounding how to effectively use LinkedIn, build a resume, and be proactive in finding internships that could lead to career opportunities. Paolozzi also provided one-on-one resume assistance.
The Club’s board members underscored the importance of having a student-led club that compliments Reinhardt’s Office of Vocation and Career Services. They realize students benefit by peers leading the way in their own learning and development, as cited by a Penn State Psychology article which reads, “When students are at the center of their education careers, they are constantly faced with decisions that require evaluating information and create an informed conclusion.”
Carson Frizzell (RU-2027), co-vice president of the Club, noted, “The Business Club has a lot of things to offer, but mainly it’s for whatever the students want to get out of it. If they want to show up and work hard and have a good resume, that’s what it’s here for.” Frizzell explained how he benefits from the weekly club meetings, “I think the most beneficial part about going to the Club is learning tips and tricks that I can apply to myself and apply to my resume to give myself a better chance of getting hired.”
The meeting offered students opportunities to ask questions or request assistance for specific problems. Upcoming meetings feature guest speakers to discuss career tips. The lineup includes Bruce Gibson, Vice President of IHG Hotels and Resorts, who plans to speak on corporate interviews and seeing the interviewee from an employer’s viewpoint. Currently, the Club is looking to focus on tailoring its experience to the students who attend. Palozzi told the group, “I would much rather do meetings based on what you guys want because I think it’s more beneficial that you’re getting what you need from coming to these meetings.”
