Reinhardt University’s Community Gathering Series will ramp back up this month with Stacy Peery.
Peery is the director of staffing at the Georgia Legislature. She will give her presentation Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 1 p.m. in the Bannister Glasshouse. The event was rescheduled due to impacts of Tropical Storm Irma.
Peery will give a general introduction to how the Legislature operates in Georgia, and she also will highlight an internship opportunity for interested Reinhardt students that Provost Dr. Mark Roberts calls “very rich.”
“Reinhardt is pleased to host Stacy Peery as our Community Gathering speaker. Our community will learn about the rich opportunity that the Georgia Legislature Internship offers to junior- and senior-level students,” Roberts said. “One important aspect of Reinhardt’s mission is to help students find their calling. Providing a Community Gathering that focuses on high-quality internships is one way we achieve that critical aspect of our mission.”
In addition to being the kick-off of the first Community Gathering Series of the academic year, the event counts as a First-Year Seminar event, Roberts said.
Reinhardt President Dr. Kina S. Mallard implemented the Community Gathering Series last year with events that included Dr. David Gushee, distinguished university professor of Christian ethics and director the Center for Theology & Public Life at Mercer University, Dr. Audrey Hayes, associate professor of political science from the University of Georgia, Tina Savas, author of “Women of True Grit,” Tony Harrison, of Cousins Maine Lobster, Josh Martin, senior director of digital and social media for Arby’s and Sachi Koto, a veteran of CNN and the first Japanese on-air talent in the southeast and first Asian on-air talent in Atlanta.
The series is an opportunity for all university students, faculty and staff to come together and enjoy educational presentations and engage in dialogue. The series also is open to the public.
