Carroll Daniel Construction set aside the lunch hour on Tuesday to recognize and appreciate its employees working on Reinhardt University’s $24 million construction projects. In a nod to the entire University community, Carroll Daniel’s project superintendent, Mike Felton, invited the Reinhardt community to join in the celebration.
“We wanted to show our guys how appreciative we are of their hard work on this extensive project. It’s not very often a company is working on three major projects in one location. These guys have been working diligently to get the job done on time and on budget,” Felton said. “We wanted to invite the folks at Reinhardt so we could all enjoy a meal together on campus and celebrate everyone’s accomplishments.”
The Varsity food truck was on site in front of Cobb Hall serving up hot dogs, hamburgers, French fries and onion rings. The Varsity, the iconic Atlanta-based restaurant founded in 1928 by Reinhardt alumnus, Frank Gordy, has been an important supporter of Reinhardt University almost since The Varsity’s founding. The Gordy Dining Center is named for Mr. Gordy and his wife, Evelyn, a 1924 alumna of Reinhardt.
“What a nice gesture for Carroll Daniel Construction to do for not only their employees but also the Reinhardt family. It was nice to enjoy lunch outdoors and have great conversations over a meal,” said Stephanie Owens, chief financial officer for Reinhardt University.
The $24 million construction project includes the new Eagles View residence hall, the 300-seat Reinhardt Theater and an addition and renovations to Gordy Dining Center.
Carroll Daniel will complete work on all three projects in time for opening these new facilities before the start of the 2018-2019 academic year this August.
