Plan to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with Reinhardt University and support local students from Pickens County at the Shamrock Stroll .5K.

Second Annual Shamrock Stroll in Downtown Jasper

The Fourth Annual Shamrock Stroll .5K is set for Saturday, March 13 in downtown Jasper. Proceeds from the race will go toward providing scholarships for Pickens County students attending Reinhardt University.

“The funds raised help fund the Pickens Scholars program. This program was established three years ago to mirror the Cherokee Scholars in Cherokee County. As of today, we have raised over $110,000 for Pickens County students attending Reinhardt,” said Dale Morrissey, senior director of community engagement. “After canceling last year’s stroll due to the pandemic, we look forward to supporting our students.”

The pre-registration fee is $25 and includes a T-shirt, medal and race bib. To guarantee a T-shirt, participants must be registered by Feb. 26. This year, participants can stroll or watch from the sidelines to allow for social distancing, and an additional virtual registration will be offered to those wanting to support from a distance. The virtual option will be available closer to the date of the event.

Registration on race day begins at 4 p.m. and is $30, students run for $15, and kids five and under run for free. Additional shirts, while supplies last, can be purchased $10 for kids and $15 for adults. Pre-registration pickup is Friday, March 12 from 3-5 p.m. at the Reinhardt University Cauble School of Nursing & Health Sciences building (91 D B Carroll Street, Jasper, Georgia, 30143).

The stroll will kick off at the Reinhardt University Cauble School of Nursing & Health Sciences building and end at the intersection of Main Street and Hwy 53. A Finish Line Party will be waiting for participants, including food trucks, adult beverages, a variety of activities for kids, live music and contests. Pets are also welcomed at the event. All aspects of the event will follow COVID-19 health and safety protocols.
