Many students at Reinhardt have diverse talents. Some are even dual athletes. This season’s cheerleading squad includes seven dual athletes. All three male cheerleaders are also on the wrestling team and four female cheerleaders are women’s softball players.
Gabe Anderson, Jonathan Paramore, Tyler Ingram, Alexis Griffith, Bella Krauth, Kaylin Jinks, and Kyra Lightner are all shining examples of Reinhardt students striving to diversify their talents. Tyler Ingram, one of the cheerleaders gives credit to other athletes on campus for getting him involved in each of his activities and wants to be encouraging to other students, “My advice is to get involved and do different things. When I was a freshman, I only did wrestling but I wanted to do more and become a better person and be more open but didn’t know where to go or what to do. It took other leaders reaching out to me to suggest trying new things. Open yourself up and get involved. Once you do that you enjoy opening new doors and you never know what could happen.” Last year Tyler was president of the Student Government Association and is on the leadership teams of Campus Ministries and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Teammate Lightner agrees, “We heard Tyler talk and it was cool to listen to and inspired us to get more involved in FCA and Common Ground and stuff like that. I am also glad I became a cheerleader. I like getting into new things and meeting new people. It helps us be less stressed out.” Bella Krauth thanks Athletic Director Jeffrey Pourchier for his encouragement, “He pushes us to get involved with other things. We’re trying to branch out and grow our horizons.”
