At Reinhardt University, our mission in the Price School of Education (PSOE) is to produce reflective, problem-solving teachers who respond to the diversity of student needs through differentiated instruction driven by ongoing assessment and adjustments within a nurturing environment.
Each year the Cherokee Retired Educators Association (CREA) provides support to students who dream of becoming teachers. On July 26, the CREA presented Reinhardt President Mark A. Roberts, Ph.D., with a generous donation of $3,000 to be awarded to Cherokee County School District graduate(s) who attend Reinhardt University’s Price School of Education (PSOE).
“CREA is honored to continue to support future educators in the PSOE as they prepare to fulfill their dreams of leading a classroom with heart and utilizing best practices to teach the emerging generation,” shared Letitia Cline, CREA president. “It is in our blood. As retired educators, we continue to care deeply about the education profession which we all love and dedicated our lives to serving.”
“Only three professors from Price School of Education are not retired educators from the Cherokee County School System,” explains Tami Smith, interim dean of PSOE. “We take great pride in being members of the CREA and are grateful they chose to bestow upon our students these fabulous scholarships.”
The recipients of this year’s scholarship are Laura Howell and Maria Allison, both PSOE Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) students. Each student will receive $1,500 toward their Fall 2021 tuition.
“We are grateful for the continued support of our students from CREA,” shared President Roberts. “It is through their support more students can pursue their education at Reinhardt.”

The Cherokee Retired Educators Association has been a supporter of PSOE for the past 18 years through their scholarship allowing future teachers to walk the halls at Reinhardt and into the classrooms of our community.
“We have a 100% job placement rate with the majority of our students employed by the Cherokee County School System,” says Smith. “The scholarships from CREA enable our students to enter the job force with less student debt and a greater appreciation of the wonderful educators in the Cherokee County School District. We are proud of our students and the impact they will make on their students to be productive, lifelong learners.”
