Over 700 Reinhardt students and staff gathered at the Hal B. Wansley President’s Home* on November 19th for holiday desserts to celebrate the upcoming holiday season. The festive annual tradition included creatively handcrafted sweets, holiday music, and a winter wonderland theme.

President Mark A. Roberts, PhD welcomed the Reinhardt community into the historic home where everyone enjoyed the treats the Metz Culinary Management team designed and prepared. Holiday decorations and steaming hot chocolate sparked lively conversation and the taking of photos to remember the evening.

*The Hal B. Wansley President’s Home was completed and dedicated in late 1977. Hal Brantley Wansley (1913-1975) was WWII veteran who fought in the Pacific at Iwo Jima. In his professional career, he served as an executive vice president of Georgia Power Company. Hal B. Wansley Power Plant located in northeastern Heard County, between Franklin and Carrollton, Georgia is named in his honor.  He was a member of the Board of Trustees from 1971 where he served as chairman of the Board from May 24, 1973 to May 18, 1974, and vice chair from May 15, 1975, until his death on June 16, 1975.

The Wansley President’s Home is a replica of the home of Peter S. Knox, Jr., in Augusta, GA who was instrumental in raising funds and donations of material for the president’s home. Trustee Ruth Dunaway Wansley (Hal’s spouse) served on a decorating committee for the home with Elizabeth Johnston and Lucretia Mount. Bert Lance, Chair of the Board at the time, named the new president’s home in memory of his predecessor.
