Reinhardt University will host Dr. Namalie Jayasinghe March 14 as she presents, “An Introduction to the Good Work of Oxfam America” during this month’s Community Gathering.
“Dr. Jayasinghe has dedicated her studies and career to supporting those in need,” said University Provost Dr. Mark Roberts. “This month’s Community Gathering will pose an excellent example to Reinhardt students and faculty of how actors contribute both to the academic realm and to real communities across the globe.”
The presentation will take place Wednesday, March 14, at 1 p.m. in the Hill Freeman Library Community Room.
Dr. Jayasinghe is the gender and women’s rights researcher for Oxfam America, a global organization working to end poverty, hunger and social injustice. Her presentation will explain Oxfam America’s work, what it means and how she contributes to it. The floor will then open for questions and discussion.
Prior to joining Oxfam America, Dr. Jayasinghe worked closely with local communities in West Africa, Sri Lanka and the Gulf Coast of the U.S., among other locations.
