A fun-filled day at Garland Mountain Sporting Clays is on target to boost scholarship opportunities for Reinhardt University athletes.
Reinhardt will host its second annual Clay Shooting Classic on April 13.
The event offers a variety of sponsorship opportunities centered around a clay shooting tournament. Benefits go toward enhancing the experience of Reinhardt’s student-athletes, who boasted a 66 percent winning rate across all sports while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.26 in the 2016-17 academic year.
“The Clay Shooting Classic is an excellent way to enjoy the beautiful spring weather while supporting our remarkable student-athletes,” said Dale Morrissey, director of development and external relations for ReinhardtUniversity. “We are honored by the community’s continued support for Reinhardt Athletics.”
The event includes a continental breakfast, clay shoot tournament, buffet lunch and awards program. During the tournament, each four-member team will shoot one round of sporting clays—100 targets over 13 different stations—in a beginner-to-intermediate or an intermediate-to-advanced division. The winning team will take home the team trophy, which changes hands as shooters contend for the title each year.
The event will take place rain or shine, and registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Participants should bring a 12- or 20-gauge shotgun, although rentals are available on-site at Garland Mountain Sporting Clays. Ammunition will be provided as a part of the registration fee.
Shooters may register individually for $125, or as a team for $450. Additionally, nine sponsorship opportunities are available that offer varying levels of name recognition and promotional materials at the event. Those who are unable to attend may still offer a tax-deductible gift to have their name featured on event signage.
