Georgia Governor Brian Kemp appointed Funk Heritage Center Director W. Jeff Bishop to the Georgia Historical Records Advisory Council (GHRAC) to serve a third term.
This prestigious role includes promoting public access to the state’s historical records, enhancing the preservation of archival materials, and advising the Board of Regents and the Georgia Archives on issues concerning records. Through this appointment, Bishop also plays a part in recognizing outstanding efforts in archives and records management through the GHRAC annual awards program and the grants program for local historical repositories to implement records projects.
First appointed in 2017 by Governor Nathan Deal, Bishop expressed his honor of being reappointed, “As limited as we may think we are in our talents, knowledge, time, or resources, there are so many opportunities for us to serve. When we do, we enrich not just our communities and the people who live there, but ourselves. I feel so fortunate and blessed to have this opportunity to serve our state for another term and to represent Reinhardt University on a statewide level.”
The Funk Heritage Center, located on the University’s campus, interprets the local history and culture of North Georgia through educational programming and the collection, care, and exhibition of art and artifacts. Bishop became its director in 2018.
