Learn about how to get spring gardens ready this March 12 with Cobb County Master Gardener Tony Davis at Reinhardt University’s Funk Heritage Center.
The special program discussing gardening with native plants will be held March 12 at 2 p.m.
Harris is an active member of the Cobb County Native Plant Society and a citizen of the Cherokee Nation, currently president of the Georgia chapter of the Trail of Tears Association. Harris and his wife, Carra, work to preserve their heritage and established the Cherokee Garden at Green Meadows Preserve.
The Cherokee Garden features trees, shrubs and perennials that were used by the Cherokee for medicine, food, shelter and tools prior to the Trail of Tears in 1838 and is designated as an Interpretive Site on the Trail of Tears National Historic Trail. Members of the Master Gardeners and the Georgia Native Plant Society spend hundreds of hours rescuing and/or propagating the native plants.
