Students in Reinhardt University’s Price School of Education (PSOE) gave the gift of reading to students at Clayton Elementary School in Canton, Georgia. Connections formed during Read Across America Week when teacher candidates read books to the classrooms and gifted a new book to each elementary student.
In addition, PSOE students connected with high school students considering pursuing a teaching profession. Teenagers from Sequoyah High School and Creekview High School spent a day in Reinhardt classrooms, with education majors as their instructors. Interactive activities and visual impairment simulations kept everyone engaged. Sharing useful technology and teaching strategies greatly interested the high school groups, followed by a campus tour and lunch.
Sequoyah High School posted on social media that the experience was an “incredible learning opportunity.” Director of Teacher Education Tami Smith remarked, “Although it was a rainy day, Reinhardt University shone brightly!”
