The Reinhardt University Police Academy received a generous donation from Georgia Power, one that happened to include a personal connection.
Several Reinhardt alumni are employed by Georgia Power’s Corporate Security, including John Greaves ‘13 and Jason Fields ‘16, both graduates of the RU Police Academy. The two alumni arranged for Georgia Power to donate five soft body armor vests for the academy’s students and the University’s Public Safety Officers to utilize.
“This donation will allow our police academy students to become accustomed to body armor while providing additional protection during high-liability training exercises,” said Trey Drawdy, director of the Reinhardt Public Safety Institute.
These ballistic resistant vests are typically issued by agencies for officers to wear while engaged in field duties. Drawdy says body armor is a critical piece of safety equipment, providing officers with an additional layer of personal protection.
Reinhardt is grateful for its alumni who seek opportunities to contribute to the success of its future graduates.
