Dr. John Troutman is a prime example that students can further their education and become lifelong learners. The Reinhardt University adjunct professor recently earned his Doctorate of Business Administration in management.
Troutman has been an adjunct since 2012 and enjoys teaching a wide variety of topics , including business, communication, marketing, management and leadership, as well as seeing students connect with certain topics and business cases.
“In teaching for the McCamish School of Business & Sport Studies, I’ve learned that students can get great insight into the practical applications of business via our courses,” said Troutman. “Also in the School of Arts & Humanities, the COM 108 course gives students an important start in creating and delivering presentations, a key part of today’s business communication.”
He earned his Bachelor of Science in communication from the University of Tennessee, a Master of Arts . in mass communication from the University of Florida and most recently, his D.B.A in management with his dissertation focusing on Leadership in Sales and Marketing Alignment from Argosy University-Atlanta.
Troutman’s professional experience translates well to the classroom. From corporate sales and marketing at Siemens and logistics at UPS to roles at Comverge and nFront (now known as Intuit), he is able to share his real-world experience, lessons learned and sound advice with his students.
“At these organizations, I learned to navigate company infrastructures and solve customer issues. I enjoy bringing these business case studies into the classroom for discussion,” said Troutman.
When he isn’t teaching classes either in Reinhardt’s School of Business & Sport Studies or the School of Arts & Humanities, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, going on “exploration” trips to various places in the United States.
