Monday’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday brought students and staff together to honor Dr. King’s legacy of selfless service by working to improve the well-being of others.
The group assembled approximately 1,800 care packages for community heroes. Reinhardt’s campus ministries leaders will deliver them to nurses and emergency workers at Northside Cherokee and Piedmont Mountainside hospitals and to local schools.
Each year Reinhardt University honors the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s life and work with a meaningful day of service reflecting his dream and vision for civil rights and social justice. Embracing human dignity and respect is central to Reinhardt’s values.
Dean of Students, Dr. Walter May explained, “It is not enough to expect others to challenge the status quo and to make things right. We must see ourselves as part of the solution to the problems of social, economic, legal, and environmental injustices ailing this country and our world.”
