Years of service, contributions, excellence, and lasting effect on the academic community earned emeriti status for 19 former Reinhardt faculty and staff. The honorary title signifies the respect of their peers for their performance, achievements, and impact on the University.
A formal ceremony on April 9th bestowed the high honor to Viviana Baxter, Nancy Carter, Dr. William DeAngelis, Andrew Edwards, Jr., Dr. Catherine Emanual, Beatrice Flint, Dr. A. Wayne Glowka, Joel Langford, Dr. Dennis McIntire, Dr. G. David Moore, Susan Naylor, Margaret O’Connor, Dr. Eddie Robertson, Sylvia Robertson, Dr. S. Beth Russell, Larry Webb, Dr. Pamela Wilson, JoEllen Wilson (RU-1961), and Dr. Donald Wilson, Jr.
Dr. Ken Wheeler, Dean of the College of Humanities, Sciences and Technology thanked the inductees for the countless lives they shaped and innumerable vocations they helped discern saying, “When you retire from collegiate teaching, the sum of your work is the students you taught over your career. You helped them learn, write better, think in new ways, and grow up. I see profoundly just how much I and others are influenced by the professors who came before us and taught with us. That influence is a spirit of unselfish service, of long devotion, of warmhearted generosity, and good humor about life. It is a valuable inheritance, and we are all grateful for that gift.”
“I hope you all will know that you are remembered,” said Johnson Bowles, Vice President of Advancement and Communications. “You’re cherished for your service. Your scholarship, lessons, and wisdom will continue to resonate in the hearts and minds of others. You’re emblematic of Reinhardt’s history and success. Each of us who leads and serves this institution will carry your example forward in hopes that we too can leave a lasting legacy and make you proud.”
