Valuable connections and industry insight from seasoned professionals assist Reinhardt students passionate about photography, film, and television. As part of the Communication Advisory Board, members with a wealth of experience and accolades guide and mentor students through demonstrations, workshops, and other opportunities. The board includes Digital Multiplex lighting board operator Glenn Ortman, Emmy Award-winning rigging gaffer Thomas Dean, three-time Emmy Award-winning robotic camera operator Andy Ransom, audio specialist Bobby DeHart, and renowned international photographer Marlana Semenza.

Ortman and Dean have worked on Marvel Studio projects including Black Panther, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 & 3, Agatha All Along, Loki, Hawkeye, and Echo. Dean, a 30-year veteran, also worked on Dr. Sleep, Mile 22, hits like One Tree Hill and Dawsons Creek, and won an Emmy award for Homeland.

Ransom has earned three Emmys while shooting for the NBA, NCAA Basketball, and MLB. He recently ran robotic cameras for Jimmy Carter’s funeral. DeHart has toured the country with high-profile bands and performers including Bobby Brown. Semenza started her career shooting for World Wrestling Entertainment and now has her own company working with both celebrities and athletes.

These talented board members have become a part of the Reinhardt family. They make themselves available to Reinhardt’s communication students, in person and by phone, to answer questions and provide guidance. They also consult on equipment purchases to aid Reinhardt in staying current with industry trends.

Ortman recently visited two COM 108 classes at Reinhardt and spoke to students one-on-one. He also provided hands-on demonstrations while working on the studio’s lighting grid. “I’m involved to ensure students have access to a modern lighting system, both from a textbook standpoint and a physical standpoint. With the advisory board, I make sure this system works for the students and improves it over time.”
