Emma Thomas, Library Assistant
With a degree in history and sociology from Georgia Tech, and celebrating one year at Reinhardt, Emma Thomas say she often felt she wanted to work in education, but never considered a specific path. “I always felt a deep connection with libraries after spending a lot of time in them as a child, and the same through college. I now realize that working in a library was something I always wanted!”
As a library assistant at the Hill Freeman Library and Spruill Learning Center, Thomas found her career path where she enjoys a varied position, assisting visitors and working in the archives. Now inspired, Thomas plans to return to school for a graduate degree in library science.
While pursuing her degree, Thomas will continue to enjoy her time at Reinhardt. “The students, and my colleagues in the library, have welcomed me like nowhere else has – they authentically care. The campus environment allows everyone to know one another, too, which lends to the opportunity of building caring and supportive relationships. This is the best job I’ve ever had!”
Thomas is a native of Cherokee County, with “family roots extending back to the 1800s.” In her free time, Thomas runs an online store that sells used clothing and home goods. She is also recently engaged and planning her wedding.
