Under the coordination of Nigerian native Adetunji “Tunji” A. Adesesan, Academic Support Office director, the African Descendants Student Association (ADSA) has done it again! Last year they collected and donated more than 2,500 books to Afrika Reads, which they intend to donate to Edwin Clark University, Nigeria (South), Ondo State University, Nigeria(south), and Edwin Clark University, Nigeria (East). In addition, last year the association donated 500 children books to three local elementary schools, Good News International school, Asaba, Nigeria (East), as well as 200 books to a special school for kids with cerebral palsy in Nigeria.
The project began four years ago with a donation to Ondo State University in Nigeria. According to OSU, Reinhardt was the first college outside their nation to donate books and is still the largest donor thus far. Since the start of the project we have given out over 7,000 books.
The books we are sending to Edwin Clark university leaves for Nigeria at the end of this month. However, we are still collecting books. If you have books you want to give away, it is not too late to do so. We could not have done this without your support and generous donation.
