Join RU Green, RU SERVE and SGA Wednesday, March 28, from 3-5 p.m., at the Eagle Statue for Spring into Green Day. During the event, the Class of 2018 tree, a Japanese Styrax, will be planted behind the Burgess Administration building.
“It is a beautiful tree with white flowers that bloom May through June,” said Reinhardt horticulturalist Zach White. “We are going to add a tree label, which has the common name, scientific name and family name of the tree, as well as the origin of the tree for educational purposes for the Burgess Arboretum.”
White said the Class of 2018 tree is only the second one to be planted and dedicated to a specific class. The last tree, a pecan tree, was dedicated to the Class of 1914 on the lawn of the Burgess Administration Building.
