Throughout the year, Reinhardt University hosts a variety of events and fundraisers to promote the support of local students.
On Nov. 16, the Pickens County community joined together at The Conservancy to celebrate Reinhardt students and raise awareness for Pickens Scholars, a scholarship program for Pickens County students attending Reinhardt University. Reinhardt faculty member Dr. Anne Schantz, along with Reinhardt student musicians, performed folk tunes for guests while they enjoyed dinner.
Schantz, assistant professor of music for the School of Performing Arts, and the students performed with instruments donated by the late John Barmeyer, whose legacy lives on as students learn to play using his gift.
“Watching the students perform with the guitars was exactly what Mr. Barmeyer wanted,” said Dale Morrissey, senior director of constituent engagement. “This was a great event for both Reinhardt and the community. I was so pleased to see the Jasper community come out to support Reinhardt’s Pickens Scholars. Thank you to everyone who attended and made this event possible.”
