When Chas Pierce began teaching at Woodstock High School, he stepped into the role with confidence provided by his education and support from Reinhardt University.
Pierce graduated from Reinhardt in 2018 having majored in general biology and secondary biology education. He found great value in his time with the Price School of Education.
“It was obvious the program’s main objective was to create teachers who could inspire their students,” said Pierce. “They did this by investing in each student in the PSOE. The PSOE found each student’s strength and challenged them to become the best educators they could be.”
Future mathematics and science educators like Pierce now have the chance to study at Reinhardt University with financial support through the STEM Teacher and Education Development program, funded by the Noyce Scholarship.
With a high demand for teachers in STEM classes, Reinhardt wants to help students finish their degrees and set them on a path of success in their field. Noyce Scholars will receive scholarships of up to $20,000 per year in their last two years at Reinhardt.
Now having spent more than two years as an educator, Pierce sees the impact Reinhardt’s education made on his career.
“Reinhardt found the best qualities in me and used those to help me find my identity as an educator.”
