A group of Reinhardt students had a wet and wild adventure last weekend. The Reinhardt Outdoors program kayaked a section of the Cartecay River near Ellijay, Georgia on September 16th.

The trip started calm but took a challenging turn near the end, with several Class II and Class III rapids. Dr. Walter May, Dean of Students joined the students for the day trip.

Other outings this school year include a trip to Amicalola State Park to have a zipline adventure over the treetops and hike to the top of the tallest waterfall in Georgia, and later a Spring Break trip to paddle with manatees along Florida’s Crystal River, hike undisturbed coastal areas and camp under the stars.

Reinhardt Outdoors is part of the Office of Student Activities and provides students and other members of the university community with a variety of excursions. Participants are taught how to enjoy the experiences safely and with respect for the environment, as well as learning ways to be active members of the outdoor community. The kayakers say it was a great way to spend a Saturday.
