As part of the Reinhardt Outdoors program, Dean of Students Walter May took seven students on a horseback riding adventure in the North Georgia Mountains on October 19th. In the cool Fall air amongst the changing leaves, students found the experience engaging and enjoyable, with Noemi Martin (RU-2028) noting, “Although it was nerve-racking, it was an amazing experience as you got to enjoy nature and relax as well as riding a horse at the same time.” Martin further emphasizes, “Don’t forget to take a breather as the semester goes on, go outside, and hang out with friends or horses!”

The program fosters events and opportunities for students to experience various outdoor activities throughout the year. Dr. May explained, “As part of Reinhardt’s mission to educate the whole person with challenge and care, Reinhardt Outdoors, established in 2002, is designed to share and expose unique outdoor adventures with Reinhardt students.” Dr. May further notes, “The learning experience occurs as much within the classroom as outside the walls of the classroom.” Within these excursions, students learn various outdoor skills, how to relax and connect with nature, and how to enjoy nature safely and responsibly

During Spring Break 2025, Reinhardt Outdoors plans a four-day trip to the Georgia Coast where students can explore marshes, hike a wildlife refuge, paddleboard, kayak, and sleep under the stars.
