As the holiday season approaches, Reinhardt University will look to the needs of others with the annual Giving Tree program.
Each year, Reinhardt works alongside its partner in education, R.M. Moore Elementary School, to provide Christmas gifts to families in the community who would otherwise be unable to celebrate by giving their children gifts.
To get involved, students, faculty and staff can get an angel tag from the tree located in Support Services in the Burgess Administration Building. The tags indicate the items on a specific child’s wish list.
“The Giving Tree is a great tradition,” said Janna Moore, Reinhardt’s coordinator of development services & stewardship. “Reinhardt and the community come together to support local children and their families during the holidays, and it’s a joy to see our students, faculty and staff giving back to make Christmas a special time for everyone.”
Last year, the University provided gifts for 14 children from five families, ranging from two to 12 years old. The local school identifies families in need, and the wish lists are provided to Reinhardt’s Office of Advancement.
The tags include information about the child, along with a request for new clothing or toys. This year, Reinhardt will collect donations for 16 children from nine different families, ranging in age from two years old to 11 years old. When choosing a tag, please indicate which tag you chose on the sign out sheet located next to the tree.
Return the wrapped gifts to the tree in the President’s Office by Monday, Dec. 9 at 5 p.m. Make sure the tag is on the front of the gift. Multiple gifts should be wrapped separately.
