Since the program’s start, Reinhardt’s Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing has hosted summer readings for students and the community. The reading series will continue into fall this semester, with two poetry readings.
On Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. in the Hill Freeman Library Community Room, poets Dr. Chad Davidson and Dr. Gregory Fraser will read their work for Reinhardt and any community members interested in attending the event.
Davidson plans to finish his fourth collection, “Unearth,” in early 2020. His recent works can be found in AGNI, Five Points, Gettysburg Review and Kenyon Review, among others. Davidson is a professor of literature and creative writing at the University of West Georgia and also co-directs Convivio, a summer writing conference in Italy.
Fraser most recently completed his fourth collection of poetry, entitled “Little Armageddon.” His work has appeared in “The New Yorker,” “The Paris Review” and “Ploughshares.” Fraser is also a professor of the University of West Georgia, teaching English and philosophy, and is a recipient of grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Guggenheim Foundation.
“Everyone is searching for meaning in their life, which is a natural occurrence, but on occasion the world tries to find you, to present you with a gift, to lay at your feet ideas, wisdom and new encounters,” said Bill Walsh, coordinator of the MFA Creative Writing program. “What better way then, to step out of your comfort zone to view the world through the eyes of someone else. That’s what you will find at a creative writing reading. The experience of attending a fiction or poetry reading can be life-altering. “
This event is free and open to the community.
