The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges reaffirmed Reinhardt University’s accreditation during its meeting Dec. 11.
“The official announcement from SACSCOC Board members that Reinhardt University earned reaffirmation of accreditation is evidence that Reinhardt is on solid ground –academically, administratively and financially,” said Provost Mark Roberts. “With the Commission’s accreditation firmly secured, Reinhardt is poised to continue deepening her quality, expanding its educational opportunities for students and extending its reach.
Roberts led the process, which included more than two years of gathering information, forming committees and filing reports. Representatives of SACSCOC visited Reinhardt in spring 2018, meeting with representatives of different areas.
“I am also so very proud of Reinhardt’s faculty, staff, and students, many of whom contributed great intellectual energy toward the Compliance Certification and the on-site visit,” Roberts said.
Preparing for the accreditation review involved all academic units. From reviewing and updating documents to ensuring onsite reviewers to the creation of the Quality Enhancement Plan, the University community worked diligently to ensure all bases were covered.
The QEP, “Where in the World RU Going?,” highlights High Impact Practices, giving students ways to gain experience and learn outside the classroom. Internships, Study Abroad, Service Learning and Research opportunities give students real-world experience, strengthen their understanding of the world and provides them a good foundation for success.
“For this test, Reinhardt studied, diligently, and we were shown ‘approved,’” Roberts added.
Every 10 years, SACSCOC reviews each institution it accredits ensuring the Commission’s standards are being upheld.
