Spring break 2024 offered students an adventure of a lifetime through the Reinhardt Outdoors program. An intrepid group of students and staff explored the great outdoors in Crystal River, Florida last week.
Studying the pre-Columbian burial and temple platform mounds at the Crystal River Archaeological State Park, hiking at the Crystal River Preserve State Park, and camping at the Seven Sisters Springs along the Chassahowitzka River provided eye-opening experiences. Swimming and paddling alongside manatees at Three Sisters Springs became a memory this group won’t soon forget.
Student Jewellee Williams Bateman (RU – 2026) says, “The trip was an incredible experience thanks to Dr. May and the public safety officers who also participated. Although I did love the manatees, my favorite part was swimming through the caves in the springs. I definitely recommend attending anything that Reinhardt Outdoors has to offer!” Emma Goodwin (RU – 2027) agrees, “I had the opportunity to try many new things. It’s nice that Reinhardt offers opportunities like this to their students.”
The Reinhardt Outdoors provides a variety of excursions throughout the school year and is part of the Office of Student Activities. During day trips, and this week-long experience, participants learn ways to be active outdoors, and how to enjoy nature safely, with respect for the environment.
