Reinhardt University’s Office of Vocation and Career Services provides students opportunities to discover career paths, prepare for job seeking, and network with representatives from various industries. Dozens of students attended the annual Career Connection Expo Wednesday evening to connect with potential employers and learn about current hiring needs.
Elementary education student Ariel Drake (RU – 2024) explained her motivation for attending, “I came to the career fair to look for educational opportunities. I came to talk to the recruiters to get an idea of what I want to do and whether I will need to make some life changes. I also attended a resume preparation class in the education building.” She added that she is grateful that faculty and staff have offered advice “to make sure I’m prepped and ready for a job opportunity.”
Other opportunities this semester included a Workforce Wednesday Series featuring panels of employer representatives who enlightened attendees about their career journeys, provided organizational insight and fielded questions about employment opportunities and occupations. Students relayed that learning insider information, networking, and the knowledge gained will assist in charting the direction of their future careers.
“I learned a lot of important information during the Workforce Wednesday series,” says Victoria Cantrell (RU – 2024). “I was particularly drawn to the couple who owned a gym together. They are living out one of my dreams and it was nice to talk to them about logistics to make something like this happen for me. I am feeling more inspired to own my own business one day!”
In addition, a career fair workshop provided students guidance on crafting their resumes and empowered them with the interview skills and confidence to stand out among the competition.
