The impressive work of Reinhardt students in Business Professor Tony Daniel’s strategic management class earned top awards in a global strategy simulation competition called GLO-BUS (global business). The students created fictional companies and made competitive business decisions. Against over 13,000 teams from over 200 universities worldwide, the decisions each team made were ranked weekly. Three teams in Daniel’s class earned spots in the top 75 a collective twelve times.
The Reinhardt team of Kyleigh Morris (RU-2025) and Emma Pelfrey (RU-2025) achieved a first-place global finish, and a team of classmates earned second and fourth-place finishes. The title of Industry Champion went to the team of Ethan Keung (RU-2025), Victor Pacheco (RU-2025), and Bruno Dewes Silva (RU-2025) who averaged the best score of the semester.
Silva described decisions for his group’s fictional digital camera company by stating, “The strategy we followed to win in the GLO-BUS simulation was all about quality, innovation, and building a strong global presence in the simulation. At first, it felt a bit intimidating and challenging seeing all the different aspects we had to be mindful of, but it turned into such a rewarding experience.”
Keung added, “The GLO-BUS competition provided a hands-on learning experience while also allowing me to apply business strategies and concepts that I have learned through my time here at Reinhardt.” Dr. Daniels expressed pride in his students’ diligent work and in the average score of all his teams in the course exceeding the worldwide average.
