The RU Leads program hosted Bill Popp, Commissioner of the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) on September 9th. Popp, who formerly served Reinhardt as Vice President of Enrollment and Athletics and Athletic Director, shared personal stories with 90 students to illustrate how good leadership makes a difference on and off the field.
RU Leads is a monthly program organized by Reinhardt’s Office of Student Development. Since its launch in 2018, the RU Leads professional leadership development programs have prepared students for workplace success. The RU Leads educational series is just one way the University takes a holistic approach to the personal growth of each student.
Popp reflects on his visit, “It was such an honor to be asked to speak at the RU Leads event. I jumped at the chance to be back on campus and to share some insight on leadership with students, faculty, and staff.”
“My goal was to provide some real-life experiences; I’ve been fortunate to be in some leadership positions,” Popp explained. “Some of the key takeaways were to make sure you are quick to listen and slow to speak, treat others with kindness and respect, and embrace servant leadership.”
Josh Garner, Director of Student Development, says, “It was great to see Coach Popp continue to make a positive impact on the Reinhardt students.” He looks forward to the next RU Leads event featuring Cherokee County Sheriff Frank Reynolds on October 7th.
