Each December, the spirit of giving comes alive at Reinhardt University with students and employees supporting families in the local community. Every gift request provided by the R.M. Moore Elementary School’s Giving Tree Program became fulfilled and wrapped to bring joy and hope to 20 students this holiday season.
When Reinhardt students in adjunct faculty member Gladys Galindez’ Spanish class heard about the Giving Tree, they excitedly joined together and filled two Santa-sized bags full of gifts for a six-year-old Hispanic girl. A giant card includes messages each student wrote in Spanish. Galindez expressed, “I was very touched by their willingness to help, their compassion, and their enthusiasm during the whole process. It was an honor for me to work with such a wonderful group of students.”
Reinhardt is part of the Cherokee County Chamber’s Partner in Education program. R.M. Moore Principal Kim Moody expressed “We’re thankful for the partnership we have with Reinhardt University and the staff who is so willing to support and love the kids in our community. It means so much to the families facing challenges this Christmas.”
Due to the outpouring of volunteers to provide gifts, Reinhardt also donated to 30 families through the Salvation Army.
