Are you ready for some foosball? The new recreation room in Reinhardt’s Hasty Student Life Center officially opened, and it even has a new name – The Talon. The Talon is located in the downstairs area of the Hasty Center, in a space that may be remembered as the former bookstore. The official ribbon cutting last week marked the completion of its renovations and celebrated its new name.
“Reinhardt is always looking for opportunities to enhance the quality of life on campus and provide added value for our students,” said Sloane Day, director of student activities. “This creative space engages students to hang out with friends and develop a sense of belonging and connection to the University community.”
The Talon offers a place to relax and unwind with plenty seating, pool tables, air hockey, foosball and ping pong. Conveniently located next to Reinhardt Central – an active hub for activities – students can now meet their recreational interests in one area.
Robert Jordan, manager of Reinhardt Central added, “The Talon is bringing more students to the Reinhardt Central area. We’ve seen a lot more students come in to ask about what we offer, check out equipment and learn new things about campus they might not have previously known. This re-envisioning of our rec space is truly a welcomed addition to the Hasty Student Life Center.”
The Talon is one of several exciting improvement projects within the Hasty Student Life Center. A new Convenience and Spirit Wear store and a new Starbucks are coming soon – anticipated for completion in early 2022. Stay tuned!
