The caliber of talent within Reinhardt’s School of the Arts created a strong presence at an annual competition. Students nominated by the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) participated in the organization’s regional event in Albany, Georgia last week.
Twelve students in Reinhardt’s theatre program received a total of 17 KCACTF nominations for their performances in Freaky Friday, These Shining Lives, Once, Molly Maresca (RU2026), Bella Scarcella (RU2024), Alexis McCone (RU2025), and Kaylee Rae Traverso (RU2026), advanced to the semi-finals in the musical theatre initiative and Molly Maresca advanced to the acting finals.
The KCACTF encourages, recognizes, and celebrates outstanding performances produced at the collegiate level. Each year, it considers the work of about 18,000 students nationwide, helps to improve their skills, and awards national recognition for excellence.
Theatre Program Coordinator David Nisbet emphasizes the significance of this recognition. “It’s an honor and prestige for the kids and the University. It proves that what we’re doing is valid and that we’re doing a good job and I think our theater program is one of the best in northern Georgia.”
The Reinhardt Theatre program is also excited to present Clue opening tonight (Friday) in the Black Box Theater. Based on the popular board game and the production brought to the big screen, it’s a playful, madcap romp filled with murder, intrigue, and comedic relief. The audience will witness guests being confronted by their blackmailer and predict the murderer’s identity.
