A basketball camp for boys and girls ages 6-16 will be held on the campus of Reinhardt University this summer.
RU Women’s Basketball Head Coach Lindsey Huffman and RU Men’s Basketball Head Coach Jason Gillespie will lead the two, four-day sessions as the camp directors. James Black, assistant women’s basketball head coach, and Jay Smith, assistant men’s basketball coach, are the assistant camp directors.
The camp emphasis will include individual instruction for ball handling, shooting and defense. There also will be a focus on teamwork. The camp also will include daily guest speakers, daily devotionals and fun.
“Reinhardt University’s youth basketball camp is the perfect environment for our youth to learn about the game of basketball, to get quality instruction from our staff and to have a blast in the process,” Huffman said.
Coach Gillespie said he is aiming to make the camp one his children would want to attend.
“As the father of two young boys, my goal is to make this camp one that I would want them to look forward to attending,” he said. “We want kids to have a lot of fun while also learning about the game of basketball and about how to work with others.”
The camp will run June 20-23 and July 5-8, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Drop off will start at 8:30 a.m. Camp will end at noon on the last day of each session, and camp awards will be given at that time. All campers should bring a sack lunch. There will be a concession stand where drinks and snacks will be available for purchase during camp breaks each morning and afternoon. The camp costs $150 per session.
Camp coaches include current and former Reinhardt University student-athletes.
