Like scholarships, grants are financial aid awards that do not have to be repaid. The U.S. Federal Government offers several need-based grant programs, including:

• Federal PELL Grant: available to low-income undergraduate students
• Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG): an additional grant available to PELL grant recipients who demonstrate exceptional financial need

Your eligibility for these grants—and the amount you may be awarded—is determined by the FAFSA.

The State of Georgia offers several need- and merit-based financial assistance programs for eligible residents*, including:

• HERO Program
• HOPE GED Grant
• HOPE Scholarship
  • View Hope Scholarship Evaluation
  • View Hope Scholarship Evaluation for Transient Students
• Georgia Tuition Equalization Grant (GTEG)
• REACH Georgia Scholarship
• Zell Miller Scholarship

*A resident is considered someone who has lived in Georgia for at least two years prior to the start of the term for which they are applying, or a recent high school graduate who has lived in the state for more than a year.

These $4,000 scholarships are awarded to five recipients annually. Recipients should desire to support the athletic department during home events.

Candidates must maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher during their tenure at Reinhardt, uphold excellent performance and attendance, participate in various responsibilities within the Reinhardt Athletic Department without being an active member of an athletic team, and must live on campus.

Funded by generous donations from local residents and businesses, this is an automatic award for eligible students. Recipients must be permanent residents of Cherokee County for 12 consecutive months before enrollment or be dependents of a parent or guardian who is a permanent resident.

Established by Mike and Debbie Champion in memory of their daughter, this one-time $1,000 scholarship provides awards for female students graduating from Cherokee County high schools with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Preference is given to applicants who exhibit two of the following:

• Involvement in high school sports (preferably softball)
• Is a peer mediator or student council member
• Has involvement in Christian-oriented clubs and extracurricular activities (such as church choir, Sunday school, or church youth groups)

This scholarship supports Christian women leaders on campus. The scholarship amount and number of awards vary each year, but all recipients are welcome to participate in a learning community and leadership development program led by Reinhardt professors.

Admitted students with a 2.5 or higher high school GPA are eligible to apply.

Named after one of the founders of Reinhardt University, Mary Jane Reinhardt Sharp, this is Reinhardt University’s second-highest academic award. These awards are reserved for students with a 3.2 or higher high school GPA with active engagement in service. Though this award can be coupled with merit aid, a priority is given to those students not already receiving other talent aid, and those who are residential students.

Our highest academic award, these eight annual scholarships of $10,000 are allocated to support the top members of our incoming class. (These scholarships can be coupled with another merit award.)

Candidates with a high school GPA of 3.75 or above, who show engagement in service to others, and whose primary educational goal is to achieve a degree in disciplines within the liberal arts and sciences or high needs areas of study like cybersecurity and nursing are eligible for this award.

Priority will be given to residential students who are not receiving other talent aid.

Reinhardt University offers three types of Blanche Hagan Scholarships, ranging from $1,000 to $12,000 annually. Each program, outlined below, has a maximum annual budget, and funds are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

Eligibility Criteria for all Hagan Awards

• All applicants must be a first-time Reinhardt student, enrolled full-time, and have a high school GPA of at least 2.0
• Awards are renewable for the following academic year if the recipient maintains a 2.50 GPA at Reinhardt

How to Apply to the Hagan Scholarships: Deadline July 1

Applications are reviewed and awarded only once a year, so we encourage you to apply early. To apply, submit the Hagan application and all supporting documents by July 1 of the PRIOR year before enrollment. You may receive only one United Methodist Scholarship funded by Reinhardt University.

Scholarship Details

A generous donation from Mrs. Blanche Hagan, as well as other alumni, friends, and numerous United Methodist churches, supports the Blanche Hagan Scholarship Program at Reinhardt. Approximately 80 students each year receive scholarships based on the specific criteria outlined below. Hagan Scholarship recipients must be enrolled full time (at least 12 semester hours) at Reinhardt’s Waleska campus. The initial award is renewable for subsequent years by maintaining a minimum 2.50 cumulative grade point average (GPA) and by meeting the requirements outlined below. Should an applicant be eligible for more than one type of Hagan Scholarship, the award will be made from the category which provides the recipient with the maximum scholarship possible. Hagan Scholarships are restricted to cover the cost of tuition and cannot be used to offset other costs, including room and board or fees. As with all financial aid, the Office of Student Financial Aid is
responsible for packaging the awards in accordance with federal, state and institutional policies. These awards are divided equally between fall and spring semesters and are not applicable to the summer term. Hagan Scholarship programs have maximum budget allocations each year and the funds are awarded on a first come, first served basis. All applications and required documentation for new Hagan Scholarship applicants must be submitted no later than July 1, 2024 for the 2024-2025 year. The completed application and/or questions regarding the Hagan Scholarship Program can be addressed to the Office of Student Financial Aid at financialaid@reinhardt.edu.

Blanche Hagan Scholarship for United Methodist Youth

This award is available to active members of the United Methodist Church in the North or South Georgia Conference who have graduated from high school within the past five years. The scholarships are awarded in two different amounts based on high school GPA:

• 3.0 or higher – $2,000 maximum per year
• 2.0 – $1,000 maximum per year

In addition to the main Hagan criteria, applicants for this award must also submit two letters of recommendation from church officials verifying participation in church activities.

Hagan Scholarship for Dependent Children of United Methodist Ministers

This award covers up to $12,000 a year in tuition. In addition to the main Hagan criteria, you must meet the following requirements:

• Be a dependent of a minister in the North or South Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church, as documented by a letter from the District Superintendent verifying the parent’s church appointment
• Graduated from high school within the past five years

Transfer students must be accepted and have a cumulative transfer GPA of 2.0.

Blanche Hagan Ministerial Aid Award

Aimed at future ministers, this scholarship awards a maximum of $1,000 annually. In addition to the main Hagan criteria, applicants for this award must:

• Be pursuing a full-time career in the ministry, regardless of denominational affiliation
• Submit two recommendation letters from church officials verifying participation in church activities

Complete an interview with the Reinhardt chaplain

Reinhardt offers a variety of awards for students majoring, minoring, or participating in the performing arts:

• Theatre and Music Majors: scholarship amounts vary and are based on competitive auditions for all performance-based degrees
• Technical Theatre Major: scholarships are awarded based on interviews with the Theatre faculty
• Performing Arts Minors: limited scholarships available by audition for students minoring in theatre, music, or dance
• Marching Band Scholarships: available for active musician students who are not Music or Theatre majors

Leaders come from all walks of life, and this scholarship recognizes students who seek to not only experience college life, but also help create a challenging and rewarding on-campus experience for all students on Reinhardt’s beautiful campus.

Influencers, entrepreneurs, and adventurers who live in residential housing are supported with this $3,000 annual scholarship.

With a total of 30 awards, students with a high school GPA of 2.7 or higher are eligible to apply.

Made possible through the Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), this award is geared toward biology and mathematics high school teacher candidates.

STEM Education Scholars receive scholarships of up to $20,000 per year in their last two years at Reinhardt and must commit to teach full-time in a high-need school as a STEM teacher for two years after graduation, for each scholarship year.

Established in the memory of George Lingefelt, scout leader and local community servant, this $1,500 annual scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior from a Cherokee County high school who has demonstrated exemplary service in their community and will attend Reinhardt University.

Reinhardt University’s vision is to be the university where diverse talents grow together. This includes our online students who are pursuing a higher education journey, digitally. We recognize these students who may also be working professionals and want a focused program or to get into a new industry through an associate or bachelor degree. These opportunities are designed to make earning a degree at Reinhardt more affordable.

Eligibility requirements:

1. Be admitted and enrolled as a full-time (12 hours), degree seeking online undergraduate Reinhardt University student.
2. Be enrolled across the entire semester (2-8 week sessions).
3. Maintain uninterrupted and satisfactory progress toward a degree.
4. Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress per Financial Aid requirements.
5. $2000 grant annually split between the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters for students not associated with an Educational Pathway Agreement with their employer and Reinhardt (contact us if you are not sure if there is an agreement in place).
6. OR $1000 grant annually split between the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters for students who also have an Educational Pathway Agreement with their employer and Reinhardt.

No application is required. All eligible students are automatically awarded.

**The student must ensure the grant is applied on the university’s financial aid award letter after all documentation is received.

Reinhardt University will provide a 15% tuition discount for all individuals who are admitted and enrolled in one of the online undergraduate programs and hold an active Basic Law Enforcement Certification.  Additional documents are required:

1. Georgia P.O.S.T. Fact Sheet must be submitted to the Office of Admissions.
2. If the student has the active basic law enforcement certification from another state, the student should provide that entity’s official document to admissions.
3. Sign a tuition discount form at the time of registration with attestation of accurate and complete documentation.
4. Ensure the tuition discount is applied on the university’s financial aid award letter after all documentation is received.

These agreements provide tuition discounts and scholarships to all employees within the organization.
